Ultima III: Mass Exodus

Dwelling of Duels was something that I was intoduced to by none other than Jake ‘virt’ Kaufman a few years back now.  He had been sending me enties that he was doing and they were equal parts inspiring and scary all at the same time: inspiring because it was what I had always dreamed of doing in terms of remixing music and terrifying because I couldn’t play the electic guitar. It finally dawned on me that the only way I was ever going to actually learn to play an instument was to actually do something with it, and that’s where this – my first entry into the DoD world – came into play.  It was a free month, meaning that any category and title was free game, so I picked a game that had heavily influenced my life both musically and as a gamer: Ultima 3.  I was probably 7 or 8 years old when I purchased the game used from a friend of mine for playing on the Commodore 64.  Little did I know that eventually the game would be ported to the Nintendo Entertainment System years later and have a different but equally interesting soundtack.  So both soundtracks became the basis for my remix: a medley of songs from both.

You can’t really miss it, but those of you who remember it will recognize the sound of the Commodore 64 floppy disk drive having a fit in the middle of the song, right before the town theme. (:
